Added a new link under the "Articles" section called "Press". This is where we will gather all press-releases from Firaxis regarding Pirates!
I have also updated the FAQ's and the Features a bit, to match more with the info from the press-release of May 15th, 2003 and December 12th, 2003. |

Yesterday we added a new irc-channel for Addicted to Pirates! - Today we took it a bit longer, and added a java-applet irc-client :)
We also "merged" the IRC-channel with Cutlass Isle, which was thinking about making a chat / irc-channel too. We found it better to have just one, good irc-channel to hang in :)
Because of this, #Addicted couldn't be the name, so we had to change it. We agreed on the name #Pirates!. So here is the new IRC info:
Server: irc.stratics.com
Channel: #Pirates!
Please note that there is already another channel named "#Pirates", and we are in no way associated with them.
Both ATP and CI have now also a chat-client up and running, you can access the ATP one here, and CI's by heading over to their site and click "Chat". It is the exact same client though (pjirc), with only minor modifications to make it look better with the two quite different styles we have.
Both us at ATP and them over at CI will continue to work on the client-modding a while. We haven't set any rules yet - which we will do in near future (we have to have SOME rules at least;) - and we will also go together to make a help file for those of you that ain't used to IRC or to this client. |

To make the quiz scoresheet more fair - from now on it will only add one score from each quiz, the score it will add will be the lowest score you ever have achived on that particular quiz. This way you cant take a quiz 1000 x times and have 1000 points. Now you get the most points for taking each quiz one time.
Also you can see the scoresheet in the bottom of this page. Currently we only got 1 quiz with 10 points so many are in equal points yet.

I've made a channel on the Stratics irc network, which will be the official IRC channel for Addicted to Pirates until something else is announced.
The new channel info is:

Hopefully we can hold some dev-chats too on this channel - would be neat :)

Ahoy everyone! Polly got a quiz for you - the first of many to come. Head over to this link and let polly tell you what kind of pirate you are!
Also I have added a quiz program to the site where you can test yourself vs others and see how many points you have. You can even add your own quiz if you send us an email so we can set up a quiz area for you. So go ahead and register yourself here.
And when I'm at it I added a scoreboard that shows the top 10 users (highest points first - you get 1-5 points for a question answered correctly depending on its weight.) The scoreboard can be found here (And will of course be shown on our site for all to see the glorious top 10 quiz pirates.) |

Yesterday, Addicted to Pirates! reached the number of one thousand unique visitors so far this month... A small milestone in the history of this fanpage :)
We are now having on average 72 unique visitors per day - where around 70% is new to this site every day (so far this month). Of course, the number is probably a bit lower since many of the visitors have dynamic ip-addresses, but its still a good indication that we are growing nicely :)
It is almost one year until Pirates! is _scheduled_ for release, and Firaxis havent revealed much information about the game yet - so I figure when they start doing so - the visits are gonna explode (I hope:)!
This stats come from awstats - not the nedstat counter in the bottom, which only shows visits to these pages - and not the forum. |

| Pirates of the Burning Sea @ Gamer.no - (Pirates) |

The norwegian site Gamer.no has an interview with Taylor Danes, main designer behind the MMOG Pirates of the Burning Sea.
In the interview, Taylor Danes says that one of the things he didn't like with other MMOG's is how the beginning of the games are - just a big level threadmill where you have to spend your time killing squirrels. :)
In PotBS - you'll start as a captain on your own ship - and will be able sail and engage in battles quite efficiently right from the start.
I feel it's also worth to mention that the game will not be available on CD, it will only be available through download from the internet.
It's very good 5-page interview - so I recommend everyone that is interested in pirates-games and / or MMOG's to read it.

Our work on the new design is coming nicely along - and I think it's time to introduce our new Art-Director, Nate Chapman - who has made sites like http://www.settlers.net and http://1503.settlers.net. Welcome to the Addicted team, Nate!
All I can say is that he has been doing a great job so far, and I am really looking forward to the day we go live with this new design. You should too ;)
As for now, I really don't know how long it will take - we still need to put some final touches on the design, and redo some of the old pages along with the news-scripts and styles. Could be a week, could be a month... We'll see :)

Firaxis has delayed / postponed their upcoming info about Pirates!. Hopefully, we might see something more at the end of next month according to
Ms. Gilmore over at Firaxis.
This confirms the rumors over at the Cutlass Isle boards, where it was said that it would take about 1-2 months before we would get any more information.
Previously it was mentioned that they would get reveal some information right after the new year. Well, it's better that they have something good to reveal, and spend some more time on it, than throwing something together very quickly - in MY humble opinion ;) |

From a press release at Firaxis, Sid Meier was inducted into the Computer Hall of Fame among with 4 others.
"Sid Meier - Author of groundbreaking computer game software"
"Each inductee will receive an official CMA Hall of Fame award plaque and their likeness and achievements will be displayed in the Museum as well as on the web site. They will be joining other luminaries including Admiral Grace Hopper, Charles Babbage and Bill Gates."

In not too long we will be getting more info, screenshots and other goodies from Firaxis about Sid Meier's Pirates! - well, let's hope it won't be too long!
We are also planning a re-design of the Addicted site, better, bigger and uncut!
