Avault has an article on the Gamebryo graphics engine:
article
One good thing to note is that they say the gamebry engine is extremly portable so its easy to port games made with it for xbox etc.
The offical homepage for the gamebry engine is to be found here Plenty of information on the engine can be found there.
Also noted some interesting stuff over at the official Atari page for pirates 2: (Notice it says players: 1 - no multiplayer?)
Atari pirats page
Also, not sure if this has been posted before but neoseeker has a story on pirates 2:
Story
In the story the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bruno Bonnell tells us "We share Firaxis passion for innovation and desire to continue to push the boundaries of interactive entertainment and we, like the rest of the gaming world, will await these new titles with great anticipation"
Lastly but not least i have two links from mobygames about the original pirates game and also about Sid Meier`s career:

I made some changes to the rules at The Talking Parrot.
The new rules is that Guests may post replies in the "Sid Meier's Pirates! category, and start topics in all other categories (except for announcements).
Before, guests were only allowed to reply and post in "troubleshooting".
I also added a new forum, called "Other Sid Games" - that is for you who want to discuss other masterworks of Mr. Meier and his crew!
I realise that some don't want to register because it simply is too much work (well, I don't think it is;p) - so I hope that this might help for a bit more activity at the Tavern! |

One of the major newssites for gamers, Bluesnews, has finally catched up with the old news that pirates will not be released until late 2004 (Q4). Hopefully this will bring more people into the Pirates! scene.
Quote from Atari`s Jeff Foley (from the Cutlass Isle forum):
"As it is, we aren't doing much PR work or awareness building right now, since it would just get lost in the clutter of holiday season advertising and stories. Look for things to begin to ramp up in the first half of next year, as we head towards an end of 2004 launch date." |

If you select "Old News" and view news by category, it should now be working... I had wrong path on the php include, that's the reason it wasn't working before... Should all be fixed now :)

According to the plans section, lots of features were supposed to be finished by 31.10.2003... That didn't happen because I am still waiting on my broadband... ETA on that is 14.11.2003, so I will guess about a week from that, most of the new features will be implemented...

| Atari talks Collectors Box - (Pirates) |
| Tuesday, 04.11.03 | Captain's Diary | Log Entry By KriFos |

A couple of weeks ago, Jeff Foley from Atari posted on the Cutlass Isle boards about a Collectors Box for Sid Meier's Pirates!
It seems that things that might get included will be a sturdy map, some historical information (or "making of" information), and even miniatures.
No decision is taken yet, but I think it's a good idea :)
