What is this? Weekly Pirate Link? Female Pirates? Have KriFos gone mad?
No, not really, from now on I will try to dig up a site on the internet with info about pirates in some way... Games, real pirates, stories, movies and, well, basically stuff about pirates :)
Today, I present you the first WPL (Weekly Pirate Link), and it's about, you read right, female pirates!
This site contains info about several different female pirates, among it a long story about perhaps the most famous female pirate of them all, Anne Bonney. You can also read up about pirates like Mary Read, Grace O'Malley, Ching Shih and more...

| Limited Edition - NOT $79.99! - (Pirates) |

Jeff Foley from Atari denied in his post today over at Cutlass Isle that the Limited Edition of Sid Meier's Pirates! will cost as much as EBGames.com has listed it for, $79.99.
While they still say they haven't decided on a price yet, he says "it is definitely not that high". Continue the discussion here in our forum.

Update: I was browsing the Pirates Ahoy! forums, and found another confirmation by Jeff Foley from Atari, saying "it will NOT cost $79.99, or probably even $69.99".
This heatens up the discussion - how much is the Limited Edition going to cost? $59.99? Will the price for the standard edition perhaps only be $39.99? Continue the discussion here in our forum.

Jeff Foley mentions the Limited Edition of Sid Meier's Pirates! yet again over at the Cutlass Isle forums.
He says they won't make anything official before July, not price, not content. But he mentions a few things like that the Limited Edition of Sid Meier's Pirates! will come on DVD (yay, read this thread), and that both versions (non-LE too) will feature a printed manual.
So stay tuned and follow our discussions about the Limited Edition of Sid Meier's Pirates here.
Update: Maul found a link at EBGames.com, they have listed the game at $79.99 now. For further info check out this thread in the forum. |

Update:
Yep, that's right! The fansite kit for Sid Meier's Pirates! is out now! I didn't see any announcements on the official site saying so, but I found this link in their "fansites" section at around 3 PM CET. The link didn't work though until about 7:45 PM CET, but should be up and running now.
I got about 1600 kbps when downloading, but then again, I was probably one of the first to do so - could get a bit more messy when the word starts to spread :)
The Fansite Kit for Sid Meier's Pirates is a whooping 80 MB download, and includes:
* Art: Concept / Icons / Logos
* Images: Sid Meier / Screenshots
* Web Site: Source Art / Audio Files
* Wallpapers
* And more..

Well, I know there has been a shot of the box of Sid Meier's Pirates! a while now on the official site, but it has never been confirmed by anyone at either Atari or Firaxis.
However, on Atari's page for Sid Meier's Pirates, they have now updated a bit. Where it before said "Box-Shot Not Available", it now shows (almost) the same image as the official site has.
So, I guess this is the way they intended to make it "official" :)
Anyways, it looks great - I'm not disappointed! You can check out our older thread in the forum about this, right after the official site was made public.
Update: In the newly released fansite kit, a big version of the box-shot is available.

Well, seems like there finally are some official words about the fansite kit we've been awaiting since January :)
Jeff_Atari told the guys over at Pirates Ahoy! that we can expect the fansite-kit for Sid Meier's Pirates! to be available from the official site in near future. |

Was browsing through GameSpot, and found a new designer diary and some screenshots of Sid Meier's Pirates!
The designer diary is by Marc Hudgins Colead Artist, Firaxis Games.
"I mean, come on! What is cooler or more fun than pirates? Any artist who says they would pass on an opportunity to make pirate art is either lying or a fool."
Well, you ask me - I have no clue :)
It seems like this is only the first of many parts - so you should head over there and read the whole first part.
They also added some nice drawings in their screenshot-section, worth taking a look at! |

Just as a notice, we are currently working on updating the design / layout a bit - so things might get a bit messy the next few days, we'll try to keep it to a minimum though :)
What we are currently working on is:
x) Re-making the right menu
x) Re-do the links-setup for the left menu
x) Re-make the headlines/topics menu - moving the "Latest News" into the new right menu
x) Update some graphics and code
... And some other stuff :) |
