Well, I was checking out http://www.pirates2.com just for fun, and I found that it was already registered. Doing a whois on it, I found that it was registered by Infogrames (now Atari), February 21st.
Follow this link to check yourself.
The question is, is this going to be the official name for the game? Or will is it going to be just "Sid Meier's Pirates!" like in the announcement for the game?

There are many unofficial rumors - 1st quarter 2004, 1st half 2004, "when-its-done", etc etc... What do you think? Will Atari (publisher) be putting a pressure on Firaxis to get this game released as early as possible (or before)?
I've heard talkings about this in our tavern, The Talking Parrot. |

Had to fix some CSS code and page code, as I made this page based on what it looked like in Internet Explorer... Removed an XML-tag on the very top at each page - seems like Internet Explorer didn't handle that properly (Was some errors due to padding in divs). Also had to tweak the CSS code to make the page look as it should do in all browsers.
Now everything should be working perfectly, with ANY browser :) Tested it myself with Opera v7.20, and it went smooth. |

Well, today I finally decided that I should go for it! I re-designed our tavern, The Talking Parrot, with new wall-papers and paintings! Come have a beer in the new tavern!

I tweaked the xhtml-code so that all pages now (should) work properly. The link to the Computer and Video Games interview with Sid Meier has also been updated and fixed. As if that wasn't enough, I started working on the links page...

The fifth and final part of "The Capture of Margarita" is now uploaded in the "stories" section. Also, if you click in on "extras" you will find a little "theme" which I made on my guitar that will fit to the ending of the story.

I have added the first part (of many) pirate-stories! The first story is called "The Capture of Margarita", and is a story about a dutch captain that arrives in the caribbean for the first time around year 1600.
The story is available both in our forums, and under the newly added "stories"-section. |

Following up on the confirmation of features, I present you the Morrowind graphics engine and a Peg Leg. What more can a pirate ask for? :) In a press release from Firaxis, Sid Meier confirms the use of the Gamebryo graphic engine - otherwise known as the graphic engine for Morrowind... (Can you say GREAT graphics 100 times?) In a norwegian article on gamers.no, we get confirmed that in the new pirates you will be able to get a wooden leg...Peg leg ARR! Also some interesting news is that Atari and Firaxis have made a long term deal that gives the rights to Sid Meier`s Colonization to Firaxis - Maybe we will see a remake of Colonization sometime in the future? The far reach of Pirates! is incredible - even in the biggest sweedish newspaper Aftonbladet they have a notice of Pirates! Oh and if you cant wait for Pirates! anymore (Heck its only been sixteen years since 1987 you can wait a bit more hehe.) You could go out and try Port Royale - A game with some similiarites to the old Pirates!, but of course it's only an appertizer for the real deal :) |

Reading through an article from www.computerandvideogames.com, I found a confirmation that Sid Meier's Pirates! will feature multiplayer! This is a quote from the article:
"Although he refused to be drawn any further, Meier also hinted that the game will also feature a multiplayer mode, but he said that single-player action will still be the focus of Pirates!"
Well, as I said before, the multiplayer will probably be delayed, and come with a later expansion called "Sail the World"! ;) |
